Vanuatu Cuties

Vanuatu is 6000 miles from where I live. This tropical paradise is where JohnMark, Sierra, David, and Joel reside.
Vanuatu is a country that consists of a chain of some 80 rugged volcanic islands in the South Pacific. These islands are mountainous and Vanuatu is often subject to earthquakes and typhoons. My missionary son and his family live on the island of Tanna in a small village. Tanna is home to the Yasur volcano. Yasur is the most accessible live volcano in the world. The island landscape is varied. There are rugged mountains, and lush and dense rain forests with many varieties of trees, vines, and flowers. The ocean is a deep turquoise and crystal clear with dangerous black coral cliffs dotting the shores.

The Ni-Vanuatu people, a Melanesian race dominate the population of around 200,000 which includes French, British, Australian, New Zealand, Vietnamese, Chinese and other Pacific Island races. While Bislama is the national language, English, and French are also spoken, in addition there are at least 110 local languages. It is one of these languages that my son has learned and is translating the Bible into.
