Meet the Girl in the Family

As you might have already guessed, I understand boys. First of all I am married to a grown up boy. Art likes to hunt, fish, camp, and hike. Rock hunting and bird watching are among his favorite hobbies. We have boxes of polished rocks. I don't know how he can remember what part of the state he found each one, but he can. Art is a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy. He made me promise that I would bury him in his jeans. I can count on one hand the number of times he has worn a suit, and each time we had to buy a new tie and shirt. We have two grown sons, and they act just like their dad. Between the two of them they have 7 sons. YES, boys, I get it, the rock throwing, mud slinging, and noise making that boys love to do. Little boys, and some big boys would rather be climbing than sitting, naked than dressed, dirty than clean. As comfortable as I am with the boys, deep down I just wanted one of the ultra sounds to be wrong. So you can imagine my delight when Erik met my plane and told me the new baby was a girl.

"Mom, you are making a scene. Please quit jumping up and down."

"It's a girl," I kept repeating to anyone looking or listening.

Thank you God, You've blessed us with a girl.

Having said this let me tell you about my only granddaughter.

l. Sierra Brianna is 8 years old and she was born in Dallas, Texas

3. She doesn't like dolls, so I can quit sending them.
4. She likes to cook, and bakes bread when her brother doesn't
5. She likes to take walks, and I have trouble keeping up with her.
6. She would rather have fruit and yogurt than sweets.
7. She likes to read.
8. She makes a killer passon fruit juice.
9. She learned to sew this year, and made a skirt.
10. She is generous with others.
11. She does not like frilly dresses, so I can quit sending them.
12. She likes animals and nurses the sick ones in the village.
13. She likes to draw.
14. She helps with her brother Joel.
15. She likes to swim
16. She caught her first fish this week.
17. She learned cross-stitch last time we were together.
18. She is a cutie.
19. She speaks 3 languages.
