THANKFUL TUESDAY

" IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.'' John 14:15

In John 14, Jesus makes this claim 3 times.
When Jesus speaks of His commandments here He is not just speaking of His ethical commandments, but the entire revelation from the Father. He is saying if you say you love me, then you will do what I tell you to do. This means loving Christ and obedience are inseparable.

How will this manifest itself?
Am I being obedient in the little stuff everyday? How am I responding to the driver who cuts me off?
How am I responding when I am in the slow check out line, and end up being late?
How do I respond when one of my grand kids spills his drink all over his fries and burger, before he even takes a bite? What comes out of my mouth first?

There are lots of scriptures on the tongue, let's look at these.
"Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such
a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." Eph. 4:29

"There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18

IF YOU LOVE ME YOU WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

Is there a lifestyle change that we know the Holy Spirit wants us to change. Am I being obedient to change it. Each and every time I am given the opportunity to respond differently in these situations am I?

How are you treating your wife? "Husbands love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her" Eph. 5:25
How are you treating your husband? " and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband." Eph. 5:33

How are you treating your children?
"Do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up int he discipline and instruction of the Lord." Eph. 6:4

Children are you obeying your parents? "Children be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord." Col. 3:20

How about lifestyles of gossip, drunkenness, anger, fear, worry. IF YOU LOVE ME YOU WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

You might wonder why I am bringing this up on THANKFUL TUESDAY. Well God is showing me when it comes to being thankful I need a lifestyle change. . Thankfulness is not usually my first response, and if it is I don't stay thankful long because I usually am moving on to the next thing.
So I'm working on it. Walking it out in obedience.

"Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. so then do not be foolish, but understand with the will of the Lord is .
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father. Eph. 5:15-20
