My Fun Weekend....

The Women of Faith conference comes to Denver every Sept. My sister Joanne loves to attend and we have gone the last three years together. The venue is the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver. All that estrogen in one place for 2 days, 20,000 women of all ages, it's very fun.
Every year there is a different theme. This year it was called "INFINITE GRACE".
Each speaker and the music is centered around that theme. It's a great time of worship, fellowship, and learning.
I thought that I would just give you a few snippets from the conference maybe it will give you a feel for our weekend.

FRIDAY: We spent the entire day looking at women's emotions:

Speaker Patsy Clairmont:"Today we'll wend our way through the dense tangle of emotions that make us tender and tough, sweet and surly, forgiving and frightful, calm and tense. We are a study in complexity. But guess what? God is up to the task."

"Normal is just a setting on the dryer."

"Emotions do not have brains they are stupid."

"We can choose appropriate behaviour just because we feel a certain way doesn't mean we have to act that way. We should desire to be a woman of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. "

Definitions of Knowledge: Collected information about what we haven't know before now.
Understanding: Knowing what to do with what we learned from our collected knowledge. This is when our heart embraces the knowledge that we have collected.
Wisdom: We continue to grow in what we know. We grow past our own insecurity and our own agendas.

Proverbs 17:27
"She who restrains her words has knowledge
and she who has a cool spirit is a woman of understanding."

" A smart girl recognizes when her emotins are screaming louder than her good sense and she is therefore susceptible to impulsive responses. She knows how to put on the brakes and stop before she goes down a road she later will wish she hadn't taken." Jan Silvious

Praise and Worship Music:
Hallelujah Lord, Great is your name in all the earth,
We give you praise
You are the bright and morning star,
Everlasting Father
Beginning and the end
Almighty God.
Hallelujah , Great is your name.

For us older women hot flashes can be called "Power Surges" :)lol

"When difficult things happen in our lives remember it's one event in a lifetime of events."

"Do what you know to do and then trust God."

"Sometimes we just need to get a grip and trust God."

Praise and worship music:
Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
with wisdom, power and love our God is an awesome God.

"Our minds are the battle ground so we need to keep our mind on God and His ways.
Isaiah 26:3
" The steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace
because he trusts in you."

Philipians 4:8
" Finally brother whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

"Be in the moment because it matters. Do not give up because a women matters in the family, our prayers matter."

"When we cannot get a 'handle on our emotions,' then we need to look deeper and find the root." What is the root emotion?"

Praise and Worship Music:
Strength will rise
as we wait upon the Lord
wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord.

Our God you reign forever
Our Hope, our strong deliverer.

You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint. You won't grow weary You are the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles.

Isaiah 41:9-10
" You are my servant,
I have chosen you and not rejected you.
Do not fear, for I am with you:
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God."

These are just a few thoughts in a full two days......
