Desi's book club...

Okay so this is flat embarrassing. It has taken me 35 minutes to find MY OWN book list! Its there but since I didn't link it correctly I had to go find it.

I finished my first book and thought a book review might be in order. The book is Three Weeks With My Brother, by Nicholas Sparks and Micah Sparks. Copyright 2004, Warner Books.

This is the same Nicolas Sparks that wrote The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, The Guardian.
I thought the title sounded a little boring, but my writing teacher suggested it as an example of a good travelogue.

I couldn't find it in the library so I bought it used on Amazon.com. This is a journal of a three week trip that the two brothers took together. They called it a trip around the world. To my surprise the biggest part of the book was a memoir of Nicholas Sparks family. Both the family he grew up with and his extended family. Both stories were mixed together throughout the book.

I really liked this book. It was well written with honesty and humility. There were lots of stories of his childhood. The Sparks family has gone through some very difficult times, and I found it interesting to see how they handled these difficulties. The travel journal was not as interesting.
