Flat Tops....Deep Lake

We decided to go to the flat tops while the boys were here in Vail. We started out early. Our first stop was Deep Creek canyon. Art wanted the boys to see it.Must be half mile down to the bottom.
The scenery was beautiful, but taking the boys to a canyon with a cliff they can hang off of is a nightmare.
I will never understand why they have to hang off the edge.
The conversation went something like this:
"Cole, get your brothers hand."
"Toby, stop....TOBY"
"Where is Sage?"
"Down here grandma,"
"Get up here now, you are not to be on the other side of the fence."
"I'm taking pictures."
"Get up here now."
"I'm fine don't worry."

The trees were beautiful...
We took a short hike.

The Flat Tops has lots of places to hunt for rocks....Cole found a fossil, it is a sponge.
He doesn't seemed to enthused, but I was.
By late afternoon, Tobs had enough. He took a nap...UNTIL
We stopped to fish. That woke him up...the hot dogs helped.
At Deep Lake they caught 7 fish while Toby fell in.
Grandpa to the rescue.
Poor Toby sat in shock for at least a half hour....A bit scraped and bruised
"It was cold Grandma!"

We had a great day.
