I actually had to buy eggs this week for the first time in a year.
I love my chickens and I love the eggs they leave me. Through the summer I was getting around
9 eggs a day. When Fall came and the time changed the girls egg laying changed.
Some are molting,and hens don't lay when they molt. Consequently we are down
to 2-3 a day.
and every day I check the boxes and count the eggs and wait for more.
then to make matters worse a hawk killed one of the egg layers yesterday.
I'm in mourning, and the chickens are in fear.
staying close to the coop today.
It can only get better....Right?

awwww sad! If they stop laying can they start up again?

Yes...they will start up in spring and when they quit molting. at least that's what they tell me. :)
