I have eight grandchildren and I started this blog as a means of communicating about them and with them. I love my grandkids, and being a grandma is a special role for me and I enjoy it. Four of my grandchildren live close by . We spend a lot of time together, and we do all kinds of fun things.
I can comfort them when they are sick, read to them, go to their ball games, and have face to face discussions about whatever is important to them. I have had access to them since they were babies . I have been there to see them learn to walk and talk, grow and change. We have a strong connection. Being with Jon, Sage, Cole, and Toby is something I have never taken for granted and I thank God often for the privilege it is to be their grandmother, and to have them close by.
I also know what it is like to be a long distance grandma. I don't want to be too dramatic about it, but sometimes it really hurts having JohnMark, Sierra, David, and Joel so far away. I can only describe the situation as bittersweet. The sweetness because my son and his wife are serving the Lord as missionaries. They are Bible translators, and it is a joy for me to know that God is using them in a powerful way to spread the gospel. The bitterness is having these four grandchildren so far away. I am not able to comfort them, teach them, or encourage them person to person. I have not been able to witness milestones or watch them grow. I grieve this situation , but I realize that even though I cannot see them as often as I would like I can still have a healthy, strong relationship with them, it just takes different efforts.
Distance has propelled me to come up with inventive ways for us to know one another. This blog is one of those creative ways. With this said I thought it would be fun to introduce each child to anyone reading this.
I will start with the long distance cuties.
