Would You Like A Pickle?

We learned a few things from gardening this year. Well cucumber gardening that is....

1. Never plant a whole package of pickling cucumbers because if you do you will have a cajillian, a billion, a million  more cucumbers than you can count each and every day.

2.  there are all kinds of pickle recipes, dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, polish dill pickles, garlic pickles, sweet pickles, sweet pickle relish, dill pickle relish, chipotle dill pickles, pickles made in a crock (Art's excuse to buy the crock he has always wanted), salted dill pickles, hot dill pickles, pickles made with red hot candies (my personal favorite), and finally pickles with jalapeno's. I'm sure I left one out, but I'll have to check my inventory:)

3. It's possible to make 100 jars of pickles before the first of September,
and still have enough cucumbers to make more...
4. I have enough pickles to keep the entire family supplied for the next five years.

 5. pickling cucumbers grow very big and fat when you don't pick them every single day.

                                                            and finally...

6. chickens love big fat yellow cucumbers
cut them in half and they will eat them up... unpickled ...
