Isn't there an old saying that says, time flies when you are having fun?
The older I get the more I realize that time just flies fun or no fun.
2012 was a hard year for the family, and at the same time a good blessed year.
Divorce is always difficult, but especially when it is in the immediate family, and along with the loss for my son and grandchildren it has brought the family a new kind of normal.
It takes time to figure out what that new normal looks like, and it only happens a step at a time.
I spent many months in grief over the whole situation, but even in the midst of that sadness I saw good.
We spent Christmas in Colorado.
I had to clean the kitchen before we could cook. Just a hint on one of the new normals. Joe now lives in a house with three other males. I will not lie, I have moments of real anger over this situation.
Side note to moms: it is never to early to teach your sons how to clean up their own messes.
This year Joe had the drier, washer, and dishwasher break down. All at different times, and each time brought life to crisis point. Well at least for Joe, and me watching it.
We gave all of them a dishwasher for Christmas. I was a bit surprised when the boys gladly agreed to this gift.
Little did they know that I was giving a gift to myself at the same time. Now there are clean dishes and silverware in the drawers and cupboards at all times. Makes a grandma happy.
It was Chloe's first Christmas....
Christmas, a new normal. We had a quiet peaceful day.
This year brought changes here at the farm.
We had our first garden, and in spite of the heat we had record crops.
We got chickens and even though I got a chicken coop rather than a new living room floor,
I love all those eggs. 7~8 a day.
The cold has been hard on our girls this week. It hasn't got out of the 20's.
This year I saw my two nieces and their girls. We had great times together.
Heather had her sweet baby boy Chase this year. He is a cutie and so big.
Reminds me of the boys.
This year Desiree moved to Texas.
I spent three weeks in Ohio helping her and the girls pack.
This year Erik and Michele are finishing the New Testament. I miss them and the kids are growing up. I can't wait to see them again, and it might be soon.
This year Chloe Marie was born in February.
She is growing into quite the little cutie..
She took a few steps yesterday, and took a swing at me when I told her NO.
Yes, my baby girl is growing up.
I wonder what 2013 will hold for all of us?
