I've been away the whole summer. I think that I just needed a break from writing. Summer was busy, busy, but good busy.
Erik and Michele came in June from Vanuatu. We had them here for a two week visit. We had a great time fishing, shopping, cooking, eating, catching up. We were able to introduce the kids to so many new places and things.
They are living in Chicago and we took a road trip in August to deliver some of there stuff. I love road trips with Art.
The boys spent several weeks with us.
Toby and Cole loved the fair in August.
We went to a Laura Story concert and the demolition derby the next night.
I experienced my first fried oreo. Pretty tasty.
We had beautiful garden, sprawling, green and producing.
We were canning pickles, and then in early August, a midnight hailstorm completely stripped the garden gone. Reduced to sticks. All that survived was Arts peppers and tomato plants because they were planted by the garage and were protected from the hail and wind.
Art took it all in stride. I didn't. But I put it into perspective when I saw the neighbors corn field, stripped cleaned. The farmers livelihood gone.
We were just disappointed.
Alex and Chloe came for a visit two weeks ago. Chloe loved searching for eggs. She got one out of two back to the house without dropping, throwing or smashing it.
Chickens are all laying now. I get about 7 a day. We have no egg shortage. I love it, and they are all fat and sassy.
Our cat menagerie is up to 6. Two inside, three outside, and one in between.
It all depends on if she pees on the rug that day. Then she goes to the garage.
We finally got her some pills for her thyroid, after 200 dollars of blood work.
We are both working now. I miss Art's putzing around all day long, but it was necessary.
Hunting season is fast approaching, and then the holidays.
So you see life goes on at the farm.
I will try and get back to posting.
