He was pretty happy to see a Taco Johns, had to have beans and a taco.
He thinks we should buy a franchise. Ha ha...
Two hours later we met Art at the only Mexican restaurant in town.
It was fun watching football all day on Sunday with him. lots better than texting back and forth during the game.
The Broncos won...yea...
We went to the dump together on Monday and met Art for lunch. I showed him around Imperial and the smaller town of Wauneta. It reminded him of a Stephen King Movie???
I didn't pursue that thought.
I told him they have the best grocery store around these parts. I was pretty happy when we found soft corn tortillas at the store after searching for 20 mins.
He got to know my chickens and cats..
He's a cat guy, he has about a dozen at home.
He confirmed that fresh chicken eggs are the best.
The only drawback ... It leaves at 2:40 a.m.
Always up for an adventure we went to bed at 8:30p.m, and we were on the road around 1a.m.
I admit a little angst when we found the old two room train station ( the bathroom was pretty scary) and not ONE soul was there.
I was beginning to think that I might have to rearrange my schedule and drive Rich to Denver if the train didn't come, when the place came alive at around 2:30. Two people arrived to pick up someone.
With a toot toot and a sudden stop the conductor helped a tired looking woman down the stairs and shouted, "Is anyone going with me?"
We didn't even have time for a hug or an encouraging word. Richey threw his suitcases up the stairs, and the station was empty and quiet once again. Except for the whistle no one would have ever known that a train had arrived.
On the way out of town we found a warm cup of coffee and fresh donuts, and we were safely tucked back in bed by 4:15a.m.
We missed the sunrise but we were up and off to work by 8.
